1953 Hudson
Hornet with Twin H Power

1953 Hudson Hornet 4 door
sedan, Twin-H-Power 308 six cylinder motor, Hydra-Matic
automatic transmission. It was restored about 6 years ago, new paint, new interior,
rebuilt motor and transmission, rebuilt original Hudson radio, brakes, tires,
nice chrome, stainless trim and glass, solid body, runs strong and smooth. This
car will cruise at 70 all day no problems.
With
the lowest center of gravity of any American production car of the time, they
were dubbed the “step-down” Hudson’s
because, when entering, one stepped down into them, rather than up. They
embodied Hudson’s
mono-built body-and-frame construction, had the engine and seats more forward
(the rear seat was ahead of the rear wheels), and the floor level was nearly as
low as the bottom of the main frame side rails (permitting seats to be based
low and between the rails). They were 6 to 7 inches lower than the 1949
Chrysler and Buick. This gave them great handling compared to other makes and
the high torque dual carbureted 308 cubic inch six allowed the Hudson design to
dominate NASCAR and AAA stock car races in the early 1950’s.
