Safety First!

Install a roll bar in your early Mustang, Comet or Falcon!

I started with a 4 point Shelby style roll bar kit. After a test fit I welded four pads made from 14 gauge sheet metal approximately 8"X8" at the mounting points inside the car. This reinforces the floor and gives you something to weld the roll bar mounts to. I located the rear supports to the roll bar to allow the rear panels to cover them. Then pulled the assembly out and welded them and the cross bar mounts on and painted the assembly before installing into the car.

Then the complete assembly was put into place and welded to the four pads. I applied seam seal around the welds to insure no leaks would appear on the fender wells. Next I trimmed the rear panels to clear the roll bar and installed them.

Last was putting on the padding, this is a must for a daily driver. The removable cross bar is great for mounting the shoulder harness and can be pulled out easily when the rear seat is needed.
