"Over Ride Traction Bars!"

Stop the Hop!

I started out with the 65 Shelby over ride traction bars from Branda Performance.

I welded the rear end mount over the spring perch then had the rear checked for straightness. With the rear end back in the car I loaded the suspension to the correct ride height. (This is an important step to locate the inner mounts correctly.). An oval hole is required in the rear floor board to allow for the suspension travel. I covered the hole with a rubber gasket made from an old inner tube. I glued this gasket to the floor pan and cut a slot in it for the traction bar. The traction bars were pushed through the holes in the floor and bolted to the rear end mounts.

The inside mounts were bolted on which positioned them on the inner floor pan right above the spring perch. After they were welded in I made gussets that tie the inside mounts to the base of the roll bar and ones that run back to the inner fender wells to add support. The traction bars took care of all the wheel hop issues as well as giving more control during braking. This project is well worth the effort!
